Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced the Clean Energy Workforce Opportunity Program, which will be run by the State University of New York. The program will train a clean energy workforce of 10,000 to help the renewable energy industry become self-sustaining, aid New York’s transition to clean energy sources, and support the state’s ambitious goal to meet half of our electricity needs with clean energy by 2030. The program will work with clean energy companies to develop job training and certification tracks, and graduates will receive an industry-recognized certification.

In addition to the Clean Energy Workforce Opportunity Program, New York is helping to ensure the industry has a qualified workforce to achieve the State’s clean energy goals with GreenCareersNY. GreenCareersNY was launched as a partnership between the State Department of Labor and NYSERDA, under Green Jobs/Green New York. GreenCareersNY matches job seekers with green jobs and training opportunities.
