HeatSmart Sullivan Ulster
The HeatSmart Ulster-Sullivan program is a collaboration between Catskill Mountainkeeper and Sustainable Hudson Valley to run community-based Clean Heating & Cooling campaigns in Sullivan and Ulster Counties. These campaigns will educate consumers and make it easier to improve energy efficiency and install more efficient heating and cooling units, such as ground-source and air-source heat pumps. These energy efficient improvements can help lower energy bills, reduce emissions of harmful greenhouse gases while making homes and businesses more comfortable.
HeatSmart makes the transitions to clean heating and cooling easy—energy consultants walk owners through the process of improving the energy efficiency of their homes, selecting and installing clean heating and cooling units.
The HeatSmart program is supported with funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Clean Heating and Cooling Communities program.
Solar Outreach Initiative
Catskill Mountainkeeper is partnering with Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition, Sustainable Hudson Valley and Cornell Cooperative Extension- Tompkins County to launch community-based ‘Solarize’ campaigns that make it easier for consumers and small businesses to install solar at discount prices.
Solarize campaigns are local, time-limited offers that educate homeowners and small businesses about how to make their properties more energy efficient and make solar available at reduced cost by buying in bulk. Historically they have helped consumers save up to 20 percent on installation costs. Solarize makes the transition to solar easy— solar consultants walk owners through the entire process from planning to installation. Each component of Solarize has been designed to serve as a scalable model that can be replicated in other regions of New York and across the country.
The Solar Outreach Initiative is supported with funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) NY-Sun and Community Solar initiatives, which are investing $1 billion in solar over the next decade.
